His Story
Mike Salinas, a name synonymous with the exhilarating world of drag racing, carries a legacy that was ignited by his father's hot rod adventures on the iconic Fremont Drag Strip and Little Bonneville during the vibrant 60s and 70s.
In 2009, fueled by a lifelong passion and a deep-rooted family connection to the sport, Mike burst onto the scene, earning his Top Fuel license at the Texas Motorplex. This marked the beginning of an electrifying journey, transitioning from the adrenaline-soaked tracks of the Nostalgia Eliminator 1 and 7.0 Pro Class, where he honed his skills from 2001 to 2009.
In 2011, Mike made his thunderous entry into the professional realm of NHRA Top Fuel, showcasing a blend of raw talent and unwavering determination. Fast forward to 2021, a decade later, he expanded his horizons by venturing into the Pro Mod category in the NHRA E3 Spark Plugs Series, demonstrating his versatility and ever-evolving mastery of the track. His prowess culminated impressively, securing a formidable 5th place in the National Standings in 2022.
Under Mike's visionary leadership, Scrappers Racing has transformed into a powerhouse, a full-time operation where his daughters stand as testaments to their father's indomitable spirit, driving with fierce passion and skill. The Salinas family, united by their shared love for speed, travels the circuit as one, their bonds strengthening with every cheer at the starting line.
Off the track, Mike's commitment to excellence continues. He guides Valley Services, a testament to his entrepreneurial spirit, serving The Greater Bay Area with the same dedication and heart he brings to the race track, for over four decades.
